Aloha! I'm an experienced optical engineer and manager currently living in Hawaii. I've worked on telescopes for astronomy, geodesy, and other applications as well as optical systems for defense. I've also been involved with business developmemt and management at various levels with optics companies includings as a direct report to the CEO. My academic qualifications include a PhD in engineering and an MBA.

After working on optical systems for nearly 20 years I pursued a masters degree in optical engineering and found that optical physics interested me at least as much. My coursework included optical systems design, optical physics, lens design, quantum optics, detectors, statistical optics, and much more. My thesis was on computer generated holograms for optical testing.

Various positions culminating in Senior Engineer • Designed, manufactured, integrated, installed, and tested telescopes and instrumentation • Developed optics fabrication, handling, and test equipment including a large hologram writer • Optimized the mirror support system for the USAF Starfire Optical Range 3.5-meter telescope • Supported large mirror casting process development through research and analysis • Performed multi-discipline finite element analyses. Developed custom analysis software for modeling glass and glass-ceramic casting processes
